So after about 6 months I finally managed to upload the last 3 photos of the 30 Days of Wild challenge! Apologies for being so rubbish - it's been super busy since I started my new job. I did find the challenge very rewarding, however, and so would like to do it again in 2017 (or at least something similar).

My next batch of uploads will be the Inktober challenge that I did during October - I never got round to putting these up as straight after was NaNoWriMo, and then of course Christmas and going on holiday and so on. I've promised myself to be more organised this year, so let's see how it goes!

I've also been asked to do the Upmarket covers this year - some of these coincide with Inktober drawings, but I'll be putting these all up as they happen.

Happy New Year everyone!

30 Days of Wild

During June this year, the Wildlife Trust have created a challenge to do something wild every day for the whole month. It doesn't have to be annything big - just something that gets you involved with nature! I've been documenting each day with a photo, and have just put an album up of them all :)

I will add to it each day - here's some of my favourites so far:

Recipe eBook

So for some reason I only discovered that dA had a food and drink category for photography - I've decided to put up some food photography in a new folder, which will be ideas for my recipe book that I'm currently writing (rather than the actual photos I will be using).

The book is going to be called 'From Scratch', and the the idea is to include recipes that are healthy and do not use processed ingredients. I find processed foods really frustrating - people say they want to be healthy, but then they go and buy processed salads and so on which isn't healthy at all when compared to making it yourself. Since I limited my processed food intake I've felt a whole lot better both inside and out (as has my bank account), and so I really want to get across just how easy and cheap it actually is to make food for yourself. I don't even find it a particular effort - it's just something I enjoy that's part of my routine.

Take peanut butter for example - when you buy it in the store it's about £1.50 for a jar, and contains loads of fat, sugars, and preservatives, as well as the dreaded palm oil (which I don't like consuming as it's so unethical). Make it yourself and a jar costs about 30p, and there's only one ingredient! Much better :)

I don't want to force ethical, non-processed food on people though, as I completely get that sometimes it's nice to rely on someone else to prepare something for you. If I'm particularly tired then yes, I will buy a can of tomatoes rather than fresh, and I might even grab a takeaway ;) The point is, by actively making the choice to lower your processed food intake, you are benefiting your health, your budget, your mindset, and the world around us. Which I think is pretty cool :)

Anyway, here are some of my regular creations that I've taken shots of so far, and there will be more to come! If you have any suggestions then please let me know :)

The Linguist

I'm learning a new language at the moment alongside :iconbecclescake: - it's a language called Toki Pona which consists of only 128 words. It's seen as a mindful language; the point of it is to look at how language can be expressed throguh simplicity, and it's very thoughtful to speak. I imagine it's not the most practical of languages in the modern day, although it does feel like a wonderful break away from our fast-paced society. If anyone wants to know more the website is here:

tokipona.org/

I've always found language fascinating (I also speak German and have studied Latin as well) so am looking forward to learning this one.

In other news, I've been doing some more anime-style drawings recently, such as these ones from Attack on Titan:

I'm also focusing on my biro drawings (particularly of animals) so if anyone wants to request anything then feel free! :3
